IN THE SOUTH. THE INVADERS’ POSITION. [United Press association.! Paris, October 27. Captain Xandeau says that the positions of the Germans on the Southern front is precarious, and they have lost equivalent to an army corps in a fortnight. If the disorderly retreat on the Styr is followed by the loss of the Stokodt line, they will be compelled to abandon their whole policy. The Austro-Germans are evidently beginning to waver. Their situation i s nowhere brilliant, but is at points extremely ticklish. RUSSIAN REPORT. Petrograd, October 28. A communique reports: We repulsed German attacks at Ikskul, and also at Xeuselburg, north-westward of Jacobstadt.
