A COLOURED CONTINGENT. United Press Association. Capetown, October 27. It is understood that General Botha lias decided to retain office for the present. ' Reuter’s correspondent states that the opening of the recruiting campaign for a colored contingent was markedly enthusiastic. On opening the doors the rush was so great that it was necessary to erect a barricade and requisition the police to keep the entrances clear. Jwo hundred enrolled in two hours, most of whom had served in SouthWest Africa. The enlistment is confined to unmarired men without dependents.
