United Press Association. (Received 11.25 a.m.) Paris ,October 17. A Herman attempt.to surround the Servian left near Semendria was repulsed with enormous losses. The Bulgarians arc stubbornly attacking in the Timok region, hoping to join up with -Maekensen. Tin? Servians are entrenched in the hills near Belgrade, strongly supported by artillery, and are repeatedly repelling assaults.
miscellaneous. Paris, October 16. Le Temps’ Nish correspondent states that the Anstro-Germans have already lost, on the Abrenovatz-Bel-grade-Seinendria-Gradeske front, over twenty thousand troops killed and fifty thousand wounded. A German wireless admits terrible losses, and Germany is urging the Bulagriaus'to begin an immediate attack. The enemy are able to evacuate only from the Morava plains, where they gained ton miles.
There are some fears that the Serbian forces were cut in two at Po/.0-levatz, levatz, causing the right wing to be thrown back on the Roumanian front-
London. October 16
A Berlin communique states;- —General M sicken sen has further driven back the Serbians south of Belgrade and Sememlria, capturing 450 and three guns. He stormed the southern front of Ro/.areyatz, and captured the fortified town of Thur. The Bulgarian first army has captured, the mountain passes between Belograd>hik and Knjazbevatz, north-east ol Nish.
