THE RECENT RAID ON LONDON. London, UctotTer 14. The last air raid is the outstanding topic in the newspapers and of public discussion. Lord Willoughby do Broke presided at a packed meeting at the Cannon Street Hotel, where it was resolved to favor a board of policy lor air reprisals on the enemy’s towns. A number ot members of tbe Commons j were present and supported the resolution . Managers of theatres discussed abandoning evening performances, and submitting daily matinees. Except the management of the Royalty Theatre all decided to continue evening performances for tbe present. The discontinuance of evening services at St. Paul’s Cathedral, owing to the light from the twenty-four windows in the dome, is causing the clergy to discuss the, possibility of discontinuing evening services at other churches

A householder today was fined £‘2s for failing to reduce las lights, and another was lined £lO for not • screening the lights in the servant’s room. THE ZEPPELIN RAID. SHORT GERMAN ACCOUNT. (Received 9.50 a.m.) Berlin, October 15. Official: Our naval airships encountered a vigorous counter-action when they reached the English coast. They dropped incendiary explosive bombs on London City and sustained several attacks. FLEET OF “ZEPPS” RETURN HOME. ONE MAIMED AND IN DISTRESS. (Received 9.00 a.m.) Rotterdam, October 15. Several Zeppelins were observed yesterday flying south-easterly. One was maimed and flying low with jerky movements at eccentric angles. Dutch Guards iired on it and it disappeared towards the-German frontier in great distress.' GERMANY'S U&UAL EPIC. RECENT RAID DESCRIBED. United Press Association. The Germans claim' that their ailships lavishly bombed the docks, waterworks, and other important establishments in London, including the Woolwich batteries, at Ipswich. There were big fires and explosions. Despite a, vigorous attack all returned undamaged. ALLIED AIRMEN ACTIVE. Paris, October 15. A communique states: A squadron of twenty aeroplanes bombarded the railway station at BazancourL One aeroplane brought down a German captive balloon at Alonthois, also an aeroplane at the Aisne.
