During the evening Mr Hornsby, mi behalf of .Midhirst, made two pie--ciital ions to the volunteers for the IVont. the men being heartily cheered.

All the officers except two were either killed, or wounded. Colonel Malone being killed by a shell. The writer also refers to Colonel Malone’s work at Quinn’s Post. “We were in charge of Quinn’s Post, a very delicate part of the old firing line, hut our Colonel was the boss dog of it, and his- good work made it into something like an old man’s home after we had occupied it a month,”
