United Press Association. (Received 12.35 p.m.) Rome, October 7. The explosion on the Benedetto Brin shook Brindisi and fumes covered the town like mist, causing a feeling of t'oi'i'or.
Admiral RnbindegerViu leftist, few minutes before the lire broke out, but promptly returned, and was holding a consultation with his officers in the saloon when the explosion occurred. The whole of the forward part was blown into the air. and a hail of splintered steel fe.ll on the houses and streets. The greater part of the ship disappeared under water, which was not deep enough to submerge the whole vessel. The Admiral and most of the officers perished.
