HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The High Commissioner cables under date October 2, as follows: .Meat.—There is-bettor demand for iHuffoir~owing to the less stock of chilled heel' and also to the colder weather, but there is no change in prices. .Mutton.—Canterbury 7-gd for light weight, heavy weight 7d; other New Zealand brands of mutton cannot bo quoted ; ewes 5-gd to 6d. Lamb.—There is no alteration in the land) market since last week, and a good demand continues. Canterbury two's BJd, heavy weights 4'«, 7.U1. second-class quality, light weight, 7|d, other New Zealand brands of lamb for best quality light weight, ordinary quality, 7 13-16 d. Beef.—Only very low qualify of cow beef is available; hinds 6d, fores 3d. chilled hinds BJd, fores G§d.' Butter.—The market is firm for best quality. Danish (quiet) 192 sto 2025, Siberian (brisk demand for finest low grade) quiet 136 sto 1425, Irish creamery 176 s to 180 s. Cheese. —The market is quiet and prices slightly weaker, with only moderate demand during this week. Canadian white 765, colored 775; New Zealand white 755, colored 775 ; English cheddar and Cheshire firm, 94s to 965; United States 72s to 745; fair to good quality 60s to 705., Canadian and United States cheese stocks at London. Liverpool, and Bristol, on 31st October, 313,000 boxes, against 169,000 last year. New Zealand and Australian cheese stocks at London and Bristol 11,200 crates, against 2250 last? year. Hemp.—The market is firm but little doing.
