MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. Petrograd, October 3. Official: The enemy i s continuing atrocities. A Russian officer and two cavalrymen who were taken prisoners were found on a distant battlefield with their eyes gouged out, their teeth broken, and other wounds. five Hungarian regiments \wvo entrenched on the hills near Potchneff. The Russians cleverly outflanked them and occupied the hills, opening a terrible fire on the fleeing enemy. and compelling nine thousand to surrender. A communique says : There has been desperate fighting at Stakhorotsy. The Russians captured eight Herman howitzers and six light guns. Germans, supported by a hurricane ol artillery-lire, drove out the Russians at Stakliowtsy. but the Russians by a fresh attack re-captured the farm. Two German attacks south of Snioigdii were repulsed. Rome. October 14. II Corriere Delia Sora\ s Petrograd correspondent says that Russia has a new army of one and a half million men readv in the Petrograd district.
