LONDON WOOL SALES. United. Press Association. London, October I. At the wool sales there was sold: For home consumption, 12S.UUU bales; for the Continent, 7000; for the United States, 1500; held, 50,000. The series was marked for a strong United States’ demand for best crossbreds, hud the Russian demand for best merino, but the Yorkshire demand was t ' fitful and erratic, though more normal and cheerful towards the close. For best scoured merinos there was a strong demand generally, being a halfpenny to a penny above July. Good greasy combings were Jinn and unchanged. Faultier further declined live per cent. All (fine merinos and crossbred* reached the highest prices for the year. Shabby faulty declined five per cent; finer scoured was in good demand at par to five per cent, decline; slipes grew weaker till they were fifteen per cent below July, but during the last ten days a .strong demand arose, including enquiries from the United States. The New Zealand Loan and Mereantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following from their London office:—Sales closed better tone as compared July. Inferior merino scoured fine crossbred 7.1 to lOd, scoured medium coarse 10 to 15. crossbred greasy and lamb* 10, scoured merino medium 5 to 7\ per cent, lower.
