Mr Tyrer reported as follows: On the 6th inst. presentations were made to Mr Buchler prior to his leaving for Trentham by the teachers, and the children of the primary school, and the Senior Cadets. Mr Buchler did good work in the school and will oe missed. Temporary arrangements "ere made to fill his place. Miss Gernhoofer was taken, to assist with the work of Standards 5 and 6, and Miss Francis McAllister, one of the Senior High School girls, very ably assisted with the work of the middle High School. On the 16th inst. Mr Adlam arrived from the Training College, Wellington, by arrangement with the Education Department—an arrangement by which the places of teachers going to the Dardanelles will be kept open till their return. The boys of Standards 5 and 6 have again won the Taranaki Primary Schools’ Football Championship. They have now held the shield for six years, and during that time they have never been beaten in a single game. This record is mostly due to the discipline and training of Mr Thomas. A true teacher always takes great interest in his childrens’ games. The girls’ hockey season came to an end on Saturday last, when the girls from Whangamomona visited us. They arrived .early, and were taken down to the school for breakfast. The match, which resulted in a win for Stratford, was played at 11 o’clock. After dinner the visitors were taken to the Pictures, which, owing to special efforts of the genial Mi 1 Fred Foley, were greatly enjoyed. The girls had tea in the school and "ore accompanied to the train by many of our StraWord girls and most of our lady teachers. The work of the school is progressing satisfactorily. Three cases of habitually irregular attendance are being attended to by the Truant Officer.— Adopted. It was decided to send a letter to Mr Thomas/ congratulating him on his piloting the boys to .victory in the Schools’ Football Championship. The Chairman stated that Mr Fred Foley, of His Majesty’s Theatre, was willing to give a turn at the children’s concert.—lt was decided to accept Mr Foley’s offer with thanks.
