DEPLORABLE NEGLECT. A STRAIGHT LETTER FROM EGYPT. United Piiess Association'. (Received 9.5 a.m.) Melbourne, September 7. Writing from Ghezireh oil July la to Lady Ferguson, Colonel J. W. Springthorpe states that the Red Cross organisation in Kgypt has Eail- ,.,] to an almost ineredil.de degree. To date, there lias been no*depot established near the front and there are no arrangements for forwarding comforts. A depot was*only established at Lemnos weeks after it was needed. There is the same lfcek of preparations and comforts on the troopships bringing the wounded to Alexandria. hi Cairo hospitals, at first, the wounded simply armed in the clothes they stood in. The contrast between the hospitals under British and Egyptian control and the Australian hospitals could hardly be exaggerated.
