HICH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
The High Commissioner's market report, dated London, 4th inst., states: :
Mutton.—There has been no material change ill ihe m-rket during the week. New Zealand is not quoted. There is very little at market, and this is .selling at: Canterbury 7|d lb, North Island 7.\d, and good demand continues for ewes at ojd.
) Lamb.—Tlie chief feature in the market is the/demand for light-weight [Canterbury twos sld, f heavy-weight lours 7fd, second class quality light- ! weight Bd, other than Canterbury 8 I.LGd for best quality light-weight, ordinary quality light as high as 7 5-1 Gd.
j Beef.—New Zealand is not quoted. There is a large supply of chilled selling at: Hinds 7|d, fores Of d. I Butter.—The market is firm, and good demand continues for high grade. In Denmark producing has heen reduced to ten per cent, below normal; this, together with the demand from Germany and elsewhere, and the shortage'of best quality, makes prices very high. Danish 168 sto 170 s per cwt;> (firm market and good demand) 134 s to 138 s, Irish Creamery (steady) 152 s to 150 s.
| Cheese.—The market is advancing with fair business doing. There has been much better demand for Colonial during this week at higher prices. Canadian 74s to 76s per ewt., English Cheddar (steady market with moderate demand) 945, New Zealand in good demand 74s to 755, and up to •70s, United States 08s to 725, good hue grades 62s to 06s. The estimated stocks of Canadian and United States cheese at London and Liverpool and Bristol on Ist September were 336,000 boxes, as against 192,000 at the same time last year. New Zealand and Australian stocks at. London and Bristol on the same date were 7750 crates, as ibgainst 3600 at the same time , last 'year.
I Hemp.—The market is slightly finn--ler owing to the rise in Manila exehaige. New Zealand prices are steady, but buyers are not anxious to operate. New Zealand good fair grade £32 per ton, fair, £3O, forward shipment prices are nominally about the same. Manila is now graded fair at £32 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales.
I Wheat is now being offered in the market in fair quantity. English from 40s to 455, according to quality. I Oats.—The market is quiet but steady. Argentine 265, August to September shipment 24s 6d.
