THE GOAL-MINING INDUSTRY. United Press Association. (Received 12.10 p.m.) London, September 2. A national conference of the coalmining industry met at the Home Office,and the masters and men agreed that the necessity had not yet arisen when they should suspend the Eight Hours Act. as its suspension would not materially increase the production, but that efforts should be made to restrict absenteeism and abolish the inequality of labour in various districts.
