MATTER FOR THE POLICE.

TEMPTATIONS IN THE FORCE.

United Press Association

(Received 8.30 a.m.) Sydney, September 2. Mr Black (Minister of Justice), referring to Air AVoryal’s statement, said he declined to believe there was any systematic bribery in vogue among the police, who stood as high in public estimation as any force in the world. Suspicion, however unpermittable, he would fully investigate. Mr explains that he did not intend to impugn the integrity of the Sydney police, which, he considered, were equal to any in the world. AVhat he advocated was the revoking of a portion of the Police Act. making brothels illegal, because such provision had the effect of increasing venereal diseases and exposing the police to temptations from which they should be protected.
