HIGH COMMISSIONERS REPORT.

The High Commissioner's market report dated London, August 28, states : Mutton.— Canterbury and other New Zealand brands are not quoted officially for reasons already given on the 21st. There is a very limited supply at the market, selling at, Canterbury 7Jd per lb, other than Canterbury 7*d. There is a better demand for ewes at s§d.

Lamb.—A fair demand continues, Canterbury two's B£d, heavy weight fours 7|d. There is a good demand on aecount of the scarcity of wethers. Other than Canterbury are at 8 M6d for best quality light weight. Beef.—There is only, a small quantity of second quality New Zealand beef at the mark/,. This is selling at, hinds 7*d, fores 6*d. Chilled is in moderate supply, binds BJd, fores 6Jd Butter.—The market is quiet, tfnd prices easier. Danish very slow 165 s to 109 s; Siberian in good demand at 134 s to 138 s; Irish creamery quiet at 154 s to 158 s; Argentine, good enquiry at 152 s to 1545. ; Cheese.—The market is quiet, but steadier. Canadian quiet 72s to 745, according to quality and condition; English Cheddar quiet at 945; New Zealand quiet, fine to finest at 71s to 73s and up to 765; United States i s slow at 66s to 70s, but if not in good condition, 58s to 645. Hemp.—The market is very quiet. New Zealand good to fair grade per ton £32., fair £3O; a forward shipment is quoted at the same price. Manila, new grade to fair £3B. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000

Wheat.—The market is dull, and prices irregular, the demand is principally speculative. Canadian and American crops are reported to be good. Canadian old crops on passage 54 a per quarter. New crop, September to October shipment 45s 6d, October to, November 455. American newcrop August to September 45s 6d. Oats.—The market is quiet, and small business doing. Argentine on the spot 25s per quarter; August to September shipment 21s 6d.
