A GIRL SHOT DEAD.

YOUTH CHARGED WITH MAN-

SLAUGHTER.

In Tam worth (N.S.W.) on Wednesday lust, Daisy Grace Cook, 11 years old, was shot dead at her residence. At the inquest, Annie Cook, mother of deceased, said that she heard a rifle report. Samuel Harry Lister, aged 10, came running round, and said, “Oh Auntie, 1 have shot Daisy.” She then went to the front of the house and saw Daisy lying near the fence dead.

Gordon Bird, aged 0, said that there was only a fence between where he lived and'Mrs Cook’s place. After he came from school he was in Bourke Street, and saw Sam Lister in front of Cook’s place in the corner nearest where witness lived. Lister had a rifle and revolver. He was pointing the rifle and revolver at girls as they went past. He put some bullets in the rifle through the hole at the side. Lister did not say anything to witness about shooting. Lister pointed the gnu at witness, who ran over into the gully the other side of Bourke Street, and lay down. Then ho crawled out and went home. He then heard a shot, and ran round and saw Mrs Cook carrying Daisy to the verandah. When Lister pointed the rifle at witness ho did not threaten to shoot. It was about about a quarter of an hour after witness got out of the gully before by heard the shot. When he was in the gully Daisy was in the garden. The coroner found that Daisy Grace Cook died from the effects of injuries fedoniously inflicted upon her at Tamworth by Samuel Harry Lister, and, further, that Samuel Harry Lister did feloniously inflicted upon her at TamHo committed Samuel Harry Lister to take his trial at the next court of gaol delivery to be held in Tamwortli,I for manslaughter. Bail was allowed, self in £SO, and one surety of £SO or two of £25 each.
