Private Rupert Xicholls. who is in the Davis Street Hospital in Wellington. is progressing favourably, despite a very serious operation last week, Visited by a Stratford resident on Sunday last, he seemed very (‘beery, and his visitor was deeply impressed by the remarkable fortitude of Xicholls. He speaks of the Dardanelles operations in which he took part as lightly as if it were all in a day’s work. The spirit of the Xew Zealanders cannot he realised, until one has spoken to one of these wounded heroes.
