GERMAN SUBMARINE SUNK.

The TII2, in the mid-Adriatic, sought to aproach an Italian torpedoer, which, cleverly manoeuvred, enticed her near shore, the Italian submarine torpedoing lier prey within easy striking distance. Both Italian vessels vainly endeavoured to save the crew, but the enemy foundered immediately.
FATE OF BRESLAU’S GUNNERS.

The Barbarossa was'used as a monitor in the Dardanelles. She had aboard all the Breslau’s German pinners, the majority of whom were drowned.

The Pacific Mail Steamship Company has sold five large steamers to the Atlantic, Transport Company. The sale is the outcome ot‘ the Lafollette Shipping Bill, which prohibits American vessels employing cheap Oriental labor. The Pacific Mail Company are therefore unable to compete with their Japanese rivals and will discontinue the service in November. President Wilson has ordered an inquiry into the provisions of the Bill with a view to revising it if it hampers the American merchant marine. NORWEGIAN STEAMER SUNK.
