N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO, LTD. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, reports as follows: On Friday, 30th July, we held our postponed sale in our Te Wera yards, when there was a small yarding of 81 head of cattle and 210 sheep, most of the cattle, and all of the sheep, being sold at satisfactory prices. Mixed weaners made up to 40s, 20 month steers (small) £3 19s 6d, lambs (small) 14s, 2 tooth ewes (small) 20s lid, f.m. ewes 17s 0d to 19s fid. Our next Te Worn sale will he held on Friday, 20th August. We held our first springing heifer sale in our Stratford yards on Tuesday, 3rd inst,, when we had a fair entry of 43 head, including some dairy cows and springing heifers, all of which met with exceptionally good sale and realised full market values. Fair cows made £9 10s to £l2, medium from £8 to £9, poor conditioned £7 10s to £7 16s, springing heifers (small) £6.. 10s to £7 ss, poor quality from £4 to £4 12s 6d. On Tiiesday, 10th August, we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when we had a fair yarding of 547 head of rattle and 225 sheep, most of which were sold under keen competition, to numerous buyers, at full market values. Fat cows, fair conditioned and heavy weights £8 12s to £9 16s fid, medium cows (fair conditioned) £7 11s to £8 os, forward store cows (fair) £6 10s to £0 17s fid, heavier classes £6 18s to £7 Bs, light store cows £5 10s to £5 13s, medium weights £5 16s to £0 9s, small cows (low conditioned) £4 9s fid to £5 65,, aged cows (very poor) £3 to £3 15s, 18 month empty heifers 70s, and for good coloured stuff £4 13s fid. weaner heifers (small) 25s to 32s fid, good quality stuff 38s to 50s fid, 18 months steers' (small) 27 s fid to 495, good yearling steers 70s fid, 2.V year steers £7 7s to £7 17s, Fulls (small and poor) 50s to 72s 6d. 18 months to 2 year olds £5 to £fi 2s fid, lambs 14s 9d to 19s 7d, line of store wethers passed in at 23s 9d. Our next Stratford sale will he held on Tuesday, 24th August. Tu our dairy yards on Tuesday, 10th inst., we had a fair,yarding of 51 head pretty good stuff. There was a large attendance of the public and bidding was spirited, flood dairy cows made from £9 5s to £ll 12s fid for cows calving early. - Later calvers made. £7 10s to £9. good dairy heifers (somewhat low in condition) made £6 5s to £fi 15s, medium quality stuff from £7 to £7 10s. good well conditioned heifers from £7 to £8 17s, nice line of dairy heifers on account of a Midhirst client made up to £9, heifers with calves at foot from £6 to £7. On Thursday, 12th inst., we held a clearing sale on account of Henry Woison, Esq., Croydon Road, Warehuia. The day was fine and there was a large attendance of the public. The stock showed nice selection and were in nice condition, in fact were a. creditable lot, and competition was very keen from the start, the sale being a great success. Rigs (slips) £2 each, ij -draught mare £35 15s, chestnut pony £4. Cows close to profit made from CTO to £l4 ss, later pa Ivors made £8 5s to £9 15s the herd averaging £lO 10s, 3-teater cow made £7 10s, 1.8 months heifers, small hut nice £5, empty cows, medium weights, £5 7s, Holstein hull £7 15s. yearling heifers (nice line) £3 Is, 12 yearling hulls 55s fid. yearling heifers 425. Since we last reported we have sold a. good deal of stock privately, prices secured being as follows: —Store cows 82s to 1355, fat cows £lO 10s, in calf heifers £6 to £7, springing heifers £4 10s to £B. dairy cows G 8 Ss, 3' year bollocks £B, weaner heifers 21s to 345, weaner steers 32s fid to 40s, yearling heifers 31s to 355, yearling steers £3 ,1s fid to £3 11s fid, lambs Ifis, ewes in lamb 19s fid. I (noth ewes 21s, fat ewes 275, 2 tooth ewes 19s.
