HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. A large and demonstrative audience was present; at His Majesty/s Theatre list night to witness the first screening in Stratford of Sexton Blake, detective. The production may be classed as one of the finest of its kind that has been shown in New Zealand. The picture is woven round a gang of jewel thieves, who set out to secure a necklet valued at £IO,OOO. Sexton Blake’s ingenuity, with his assistant ami las bloodhound,, succeeds after many daring and thrilling-' exploits in smashing up the'gang, and saving the criminal’s daughter from disgrace. A first-class programme supports the! feature film, including “The Plumber,” a rich Keystone comedy, “A Skirmish in Flanders,” “Jack Sprat, a Wounded Russian,” “His Dominant I Passion,” and the Latest War Pictures. I
To-night will he a benefit to Mr H. Williams, who has volunteered for the front.
The usual Matinee will be held tomorrow, at 2 p.m.
