NEWTON KING'S REPORTOn Wednesday, 28th ult., at Tataraimaka, for Mr G. J. Bridge's clearing side, I had a good attendance 01 buyers. Bidding was brisk, there being some very choke Jersey cow's iu the herd, these soiling at from £ll to £lB 10s, but there were 25 in bhe herd (that were small second ealvcrs, soiling at from £4 10s to £ll 10s, the whole herd making a satisfactory average ol 'just on £lO. The pedigree Jersey cow, "Itewo Countess/' was purchased by Mr T. W. Haven at 2B|Eti&V, pedigree Jersey hull, ."llivorlea Topsy," 20gu*.. empty heifers £3. Atltahotu on Friday, 30th ult,. for Mr R. W. Hemingway's clearing sale. /there was a very large attendance, buyers being present from all parts 'of the province. The dairy cows weic 'in groat condition, but the majority were not calving until September and [October, but met with keen competition, as would be expected, when 38 farmers bought cattle during the dny. 'The top price realised was £ls,but prijtes were very consistent, the herd of 75 making a good average of £lO 6s The 3 year old heifers had mostly calved, but were keenly competed for, selling at from £7 5s to £ls. The '2 year heifers were backward, best 'sorts selling up to £ll 12s (3d. small 'and empty looking from £3 5s to £5 '7s 6d. The pedigree Jersey bull. j'M.ord Mark." realised 20gns., grade 'Jersey bulls £5 15s to £D 10s, yearling heifers (some small) £2 Is, pony J£o, aged gig horse £6 10s, aged bay [marc £l4, roan gelding £3l H*s. bay

On the saiue day. at. the Wuiwakaiho yards, there was a lull yarding, a fair proportion being cleared at; the following prices: Dairy cows from £8 to £ll, guaranteed cows £1 17s Cd to £6, springing heifers £1 10s to £8 10s, yearling heifers 30s Od to £2, yearling steers £2 lis (3d to £2 Its.small £1 18s (3d, 2 year empty heifers £2 Us to £3 os (3d, 2 year steers £1 7s to £1 15s, store cows £3 13s to £1 18s, bulls £l. f.m. owes in lamb 19s to 22s Cd.
At the Haymarkot on Saturday, 31st, Mr M. Jones' bus horses sold at from £l3 10s? to £22, aged horses £0 10s and £7 10s.
At Toko on Monday. 2nd inst.. small yearling heifers made £1 8s 6(1 to £1 12s, good springing heifers £0 ,16s to £7 17s 6d, store pigs 355. boggets (good) £l. On the same day at liiglewoodj for Mr J. 11. Cioebetto's sale. Micro was a good attendance. The dairy cows were a mixed lot, selling up to £lO 10s for the best, and from £'l Jos to £7 os for others (aged and late), the herd's average of £7 (<is In! being quite satisfactory. Dairy heifers on account of other vendors made from t\ IDs to £7 15s, yearling heifers L'2 3s. weauev pigs Us to 19s.
On the same day, at. Chhata, for Ml 1 ;* C. S. Gatton's sale, there was a. g«od attendance. The dairy cattle were a good miking.liue, but wore rather low in condition, But nevertheless made a good averajje of £lO (is. Host cows sold up to £ls 10s. backward sorts or aged made £5 to £7.
At Stratford on Tuesday, 3rd hist., for my fortnightly sale, there was a full yarding of cattle, and several pens of sheep. Buyers were present in good nwmljers. there being a strong demand for all classes of cattle, very few pens having to be passed. Dairy cows on account of other vendors from £ll 15s to £ls 10a for choice cattle, and from £6 ok to £8 tor others; springing heifers made from £5 10s to £« ss. At Waitara on Thursday, sth inst., lor Mr Harry AlcKenzie's clearing sale, there was a good aftendanaee. The cattle were a choice lot, being in great condition and were much admired. The pedigree Jersey cow "Leta." was purchased by Mr -las. Purdie, for ■Signs.. "Silver Souniise" (Mr W. E. Skelton) 25gns., "Soumise Tulip" (Mr Jns. Purdie) 20gns\. yearling heifer "Lcta's Cassie" (Mr J. H. Street) aOgus., 10 month heifer "Soumise PearJ" (Mr W. E. Skelton) 12gns., pedigree Jersey calves (5 and 7gus.. pedigree bull ("Gold Link") 1 Igns.. yearling pedigree bull Bgns. The 5 grade Jersey cows sold at from £l2 10s to £2O 10s. averaging £ls 19s, two -three-quarter cows made £7 10s and £O.
