For the information of recruits the Department have issued a circular that the only articles recruits will takft to canip are shaving, toilet, and cleaning gear, change of underclothing, socks and an overcoat. These article* will he returned to each soldiers' home as soon as he receives his kit in camp. Recruits who have to come into town may come in the day before the troop train departs and expenses and lodging incurred up to Is for each meal and bed will be paid by the Defence Department. The hotelkeepers affected are ensured of payment by rendering a statement of claim to the Group Commander, Hawera.
