SMACK-UP IN THE BALTIC.

A German fleet oi' nine battleships, twelve cruisers, and a large number of destroyers, made persistent attacks on tlie. entrance to the. Gulf of Riga. They were repulsed everywhere. Our seaplanes, by throwing bombs, contributed to our success. Our mines damaged an enemy cruiser and two destroyers.
Official.—A German fleet yesterday appeared off Dirben Channel, at tbe entrance to the Gulf of Riga, evidently intending to break the mine banner which our fleet is protecting. The attacks were repulsed, the enemy losing three ships, which were damaged by our mines. Our losses were nil. NORWEGIAN BARQUE SUNK. Copenhagen, August 10. Th# Norwegian barque Normand was sunk, and tlie crew, after four hours in the boats, landed at Christiana. RUNNING THE BLOCKADE.

She was frequently endangered by airship bombs, but the German airmen recognised the Dutch colors. Many Americans were aboard.
