An Italian travelling in Germany .says: newspapers are widely published, and we read tlia t they, are- asking “at what price the results have heeil gained during a year of war and what hope is there of arriving at peace such as we desire when a famine is threatening in metals, not bj-ead. ,> Editions of the newspapers am not purchasable outside Germany, They admit a shortage of munitions miy soon be imminent, and wonder whether German science can find a substitute for the ingredients that are tacking.
