Word was received by Mr Brian Malone tiiis morning that liis l>rotlier, Kdmond, has been wounded in action. sustaining a wound in the leg on .Inly 20. No I'urtlier word is to hand of Terence Malone, but the last advices staled lie was in Hospital with lour wounds.
A quiet but pretty wedding took place at Toko on July 29. the contracting parties being Miss Winifred Corbett, daughter of Mrs Corbett. 'of Toko, and Mr William O'Connor, of Akaroa. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr K. Roebuck, of Okato. wore a dainty dress of white silk and lace and the usual wreath and veil, and carried an ivory hymn book. She was attended by Miss Julia O'Connor, sister of the bridegroom, who wore n pretty cream dress and white velvet hat with touches of pink and carried a bouquet of pink and white flowers. Mr E. O'Connor acted as best. man. After the nuptial ceremony al'terlioon tea was served at the residence of the bride's mother, and the happy couple left by motor car amid showers of rice for Wanganui. where the honeymoon is being spent.
