August b\ Official: We captured extensive entrenchments at Cargo, dominating the eastern entrance of Cappucio wood and the access to San Marino. The Italians bombarded the RorgoLevico railway, destroying fifteen kilometres, and set fire to a train carrying troops to Rovereto. Kive hundred Austrians perished. The Austriaiis then tried to get munitions through by a junction line, but Italian gunners blew up eight wagons. After eight successive attacks the .Italians captured several kilometres of the Austrian trendies at Polozzo. The bombardment of Godz continues, and the Austrians have virtually abandoned the town, which is ready to be blown up the moment the Italians enter. AUSTRIAN REPORT. A communique records that an Italian attack on .Monte (.'rose was repulsed with great slaughter, and the enemy retreated, partially in flight, to the woods south of the border stream. In order to relieve the retreaters the Italians attempted a surprise attack on the Kofel position, but were repulsed.
