Kxtraet I’i'om a letter written by a leading Salvation Army officer at Alexandria. to a friend in .New Zealand; Our wounded men are being eared Tolas wounded men in South Africa never dreamed of. At first I began going the rounds myself, with cigarettes, etc., hut this took up too much of my time, and I had to invent another scheme. I got down Padre Greene (Salvation Army) from Cairo, saw that he was supplied with money and a motor-ear, and told him to do his host. He has simply been wonderful, and the wounded who don't appreciate' and remember his care are not deserving of the name of men. Well, Greene meets every hospital ship witli New Zealand wounded. He then visits the men who are placed in Alexandria hospitals, and gives to each a razor, strop, shaving brush and soap, tooth-brush and powder. writing paper, envelopes and pencil. and is. no mere psalm singer.
