At the big handicap shoot 'of the New Zealand Gun Club, held at Tim-! am yesterday, Mr F. Whittle. <>t Stratford, was successful in dividing the £2OO prize money with five others. The championship of New Zealand is being' held to-day and' to-morrow, and it is quite on* the cards that mine host of the Stratford Hotel has a great of shooting himself into the filial round.

The casualty list to-day shows that Private Mick Bowler, of Stratford, lias returned to the firing line after * spell of sickness .as well as being wounded. This is the first public intimation of any mishap to Private Howler, and his friend's will he pleased to bear that he has got over the trouble. The Bowler family received word last night of Mick’s return to the firing dine. Sr V ■
