SECULARISM.
APPEAL COURT DECISION. i ;• * United Press Association (Received !) a.m.) Lolulon. July \ The Appeal Court decided that the legacy of £IO,OOO the Secular Society was valid. Holding that the objects of the society were lawful, the Court stated that the blasphemy laws had greatly changed during the last century, and that the discussion of such subjects as the denial of religion and the divine government of the world ought not in these days to ho treated as contrary to public policy.
Secularism is a system of philosophy and ethics of modern origin, which describes the principles first advocated by Bradlaugli, Holyoake and others. It is not in opposition to Christianity hut apart from it. The leading tenet is freedom of thought, and it insists on the strict examination of all beliefs before accepting them, and asserts that a person’s actions should ho guided c h icily by reason.
