ANNIVERSARY DAY.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 4. His Worship the Mayor (Mr •!. V'• Boom has arranged lor a largo and representative mooting to ho hold at the Town Hall on Wednesday evening, at B.<‘]() o’clock, to mark the anniversary of the declaration ol war between Croat Britain and Cermany.
The Town Clerk and Mayor have [had a busy day to-day. arranging matiters, and it is said the meeting will ihe one of the largest yet seen in I Stratford. The following have been 'invited to attend to give short speeches; .Mr J. B. Mine (member for the district), the Chairman of the Stratford County Council, and the Cha'rman of the Whangamomona County Council, Mr X. J. King will give a short address on account ol the Patriotic Committee. The Borough Councillors, County Councillors, and the ministers of the town will also attend. Jt' has been sir ranged that the Kev. Mr Howard will open the meeting.with a prayer.
The Municipal Band will play selec tions during the evening.
