NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MER*

CANTILE AGENCY CO., LTD.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report a.s follows: On Thursday, 15th July, we held our usual monthly sale in our Kohura|tahi yards, when we had a yarding of 676 sheep and 58 head of cattle, of which we sold 530 sheep and all the cattle yarded. Trices secured were as follows:—K.m. ewes 21s 2d to 21s 3d. 2 tooth wethers 235, lambs 14s to lOs 6d, 20 month steers 03s to 85s, store cows 102 s Od.

For our fortnightly Stratford salt' held in our Stratford yards on Tuesday, 2.7 th July, we had a yarding til 312 s sheep and 350 head of cattle, most of which we sold. All the stock show-

,ed a considerable advance in price, land we quote the following prices 'received Store cows I poor and old) 40s to 90s, store cows (fair condition) 190 sto 120 s. forward cows 120 sto 1575. I fat cows £8 11s. mixed wcauers (small land thin) 13s, weaner heifers 34s to 39s Od. weaner steers 51s od, yearling heifers 59s Od, yearling steers 52s 0d to 71s, empty heifers (small) 08s Od. empty cows (small and old) <ss Od to H7s od. hulls £7 15s, lambs 18s. For our dairy sale, held in our Stratford dairy sale yards on Juosday. 27th July./we had a good yarding of 92 cows and heifers, of which wo sold 30, the prices secured being as follows :—Good, hig, 3 year springing 'heifers £0 tp £8 IDs, small 3 year old [springing heifers 90s to 100 s, small [3 year old springing heifers and in low condition. 77s Od to 85s, heifers calved £0 10s to £0 15s. cows (2nd culvers) £5 10s to £9. springing cows £4 to £0 ss. dairy cows in good condition £9 5s to £ll ss, dairy cows (low in 1 condition and aged) £0 5s to £7 10s 1 . [ On Tuesday, 27tii July, we also held lour usual-monthly sale of wool, skins, hides, tallow, etc., when we had a small catalogue of 22 packages of wool and the usual quantity of sheepskins, hides, tallow, etc. The following prices were realised :—Bag wool, crossbred erutchings and fleece, .bidi, 9)d ; Crossbred lambs short, 10)d ; crossbred erutchings. little hidi, 9'd ; bale wool, crossbred fleece, very hidi, 9)d ; crossbred erutchings. clean, Is to Is Id ; crossbred crutchnigs, hidi and short, 7id ; sheepskins, crossbred hoggets, ]od to 10)d ; crossbred full-woolled. 101x1; crossbred *J-woo lied, 9}d ; crossbred 1-woolled. Sid ; crossbred torn, s)d ; crossbred, inferior, ,3d to 4id; crossbred, salted, 3s lid to is sd; cow hides, -10 to 491b5.. Bld ; 331bs, 8)d ; ox hides, 551hs, 7-ijd; yearlings, 14) lbs, 7)cl; yearling. 2 libs, o£d ; yearlings, cut, 7d; calfskins, s)lbs, 9d; 4)lbs, 7d ; tallow, in tins, 17s 6d to 20s fid per cwt. Bones -Is 3d per cwt. Our next wool, skin and hide sale will be held 24th August. On Wednesday. 28th July, we held a .clearing sale on account of Mr G. F. Scott on his farm, Beaconsfield Koad. Wharehuia, when there was a good attendance of the public and the sale went briskly. Prices secured at the sale were as follows: —Store pigs 17s trap horse £lO, hack £fi, l.m. and 0tooth ewes 20s Id, yearling steers £2 Os Od to £2 Ss, weaner steers (small) 21s, yearling heifers 28s' to 30s, weaner heifers 19s, 2 year Holstein heifers £B, other heifers £5 to £7 ss. At this sale the cows averaged £8 10s fid, and the prices /secured were as follows:—Cows, close to profit, £8 l()s to £l2, cows (late calvers) £4 2s fid to £5. '

Since we last reported wo have sold a good deal of stock privately at the following prices:—F.m. ewes 10s 6d to 17s lid. fat ewes 23s Gd, hoggets 14s to 15s Gd, sows £6, mixed weaners 21s to 28s, springing heifers £7 to £7 7s, 3i year steers £6 17s Gd, 20 month steers £4 ss. yearling steers 40s, springing cows £8 4s, dairy cows £8 to £lO 10s, store cows £3 12s. bulls £2 l()s to £5. We also sold" on account of Mr Michael Foley. Victoria Head, Stratford, the pedigree Holstein hull Prince Keyes Triumph, for the sum of £3O to Mr H. Chapman Taylor, Mountain Road, Stratford.
