Many meetings are being arranged in the principal towns ior August 4 to submit a resolution to carry the war to a successful finish. THE MINISTRY OF MUNITIONS. (Received 9.40 a.m.) London. July 30. The Press Bureau states that now, that the Ministry of Munitions is fully established, Mr Girouard lias resumed the directorship ot the ArmstrongWhitworth Co.
Thirty coppersmiths at Fairfield shipyards are being prosecuted before the .Munitions War Tribunal for striking over a dispute with the plumbers. This is the first prosecution under the Munitions Act in Scotland.
ZINC-SMELTING ENTERPRISE.

A proposal lias been initiated in influential Anglo-Australian quarters to enlist co-operation of the Imperial Government in a zinc-smelting enterprise. The scheme is not yet fully developed. negotiations being in a tentative stage, but there are reasons to hope that the chemical dyes precedent may make it possible for the Imperial Government to favourably consider the scheme, which involves a smelting plant in Britain costing a million, with a capacity for treating one hundred thousand tons of concentrates annually.
