ADMINISTRATION OF FUNDS.

Per Press Association

Wellington, July 2S

It was eventually decided. 01 respect of relief, that the branches he emjtowered to grant relief and heuent to New Zealand- wounded, incapacitated or necessitous soldiers, or sailors. and those in any way dependent upon them. It was agreed, on the suggestion of Air Parr, that in the administration of funds two or snore branches may co-operate. Special »e----lief cannot he granted by a branch beyond the sum ot £‘loo, without the 'consent of the executive committee. The clauses dealing with levies from districts that are solvent to those whose funds are depleted were adopted, as were the clauses dealing with any disputes that may arise. A Wairarapa suggestion that tie* |various funds may he amalgamated for the purpose of investment by the 'executive, did not receive the whole approval of the conference, as some 'delegates were of opinion that the funds should he invested in the district in which the money was collected. Mr Parr said he did not agree iwith the money being invested with the Public Trustee, and Auckland [would not send its fund out of the district for investment. The suggestion was put in the form of a motion and was carried by AO votes to 9.

Mr Toss will was desirous that branches should ho empowered to establish. as well as to subsidise, aay hospital or charitable institution as provided in the rules. This was strongly objected to. and the- matter is to be looked into by Mr SkerrotL The drawing-up of rules as amended was left in the hands of Mr Skew rett, and the following committee was set up to get the necessary matter together for the calling of the next conference: The Mayor of Wellington (Mr .). B. Luke). Messrs L. Tripp. C. j parr, H. (1. Hill. S. Kirkcaldie, and J. Mclntosh. Before, calling the next conference the sub.committee i R to place in the hands ol the delegates of each district the rules as amended, so that they may be given mandat try powers to exercise their vote.
