OUR SICK SOLDIERS.

DISTRIBUTION OF PASSES. STATEMENT BY DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. Lieutenant C. Gray, area officer. Stratford, lia s received the following notification from the Defence Department lor publication in the newspapers for the benefit of parents, or next of kin, of the soldiers who are seriously ill at any of the camps.

"Where soldiers are seriously ill at Trehtham or any other camp of the New Zealand Kxpenditionary Force Reinforcements, on presentation ol the telegram from the camp authorities notifying the serious illness of the soldier concerned, railway stationmasters will issue to both parents we\G desired, or where there are no parents, to one person who is next-of-kin first or second class through return tickets lor the journey to the nearest railway station in the vicinity of the camp, according as the soldier is entitled to first or second class fare. The cost of such tickets will be debited to the Defence Department, stationniasteis retaining the telegrams referred to for that purpose. "It must be clearly understood t>y all concerned that this concession infers to railway tickets only and that the Department can accept no liability to provide steamer passages live of charge also, where such may ininvolved.
