IN CONSTANTINOPLE. TURKS SHORT OF SUPPLIES. BITTER FEELING AGAINST GERMANS. United Press Association. (Received .12.20 p.m.) Copenhagen, July 27. An employee of a .salvage company who lias just returned from Constantinople, where he was repairing warships, says: The Turks are at their wits end for fuel and ammunition. All old warships were being stripped of useful metals, and a house to house search was being instigated for the same purpose. The Turkish feeling against the Germans was becoming increasingly bitter. There was a. big fight at Constantinople among the infantry in the barracks a fortnight ago. in which ten Germans were killed and fourteen wounded. The attitude of the population was dangerously hostile. and undoubtedly the people would rise against the Germans on the first opportunity. The authorities, consequently, were confiscating arms wholesale. Gunners from the Dardanelles forts state that only a limited number of shells were allowed for each gun daily.
