SALVATION ARMY RESCUE WORK.
Wc are once again favored with a copy of the report issued by the Salvation Army in connection with its social work. The veroy interesting production calls for special notice, as it gives a very encouraging record of rescue and reformation. The report is fully illustrated, and records are given of work accomplished among the criminal classes, befriending the fallen girl, caring for the orphan boys and girls who have been and are now under its firm but kind government. We cannot stop to deplore the need for such Homes—it is ever with us. we can only he thankful that such organisations as the Salvation Army air* ever ready to make an honest effort to cope with the difficulty. The Salvation Army has long ago demonstrated its ability to deal successfully with this class of work, and we are pleased to note that the year for which the report now before us is issued has been a useful one. The present war has further drawn upon the resourcefulness of the Salvation Army, who have come to the help of the Governments in different parts of the Empire in caring for refugees, attending to wounded and needy soldiers, and also providing facilities for the spiritual and moral welfare of our boys, both at the camps and at the front. We understand that the annual meeting will be hold on Thursday evening next, and His Worship the Mayor of Stratford will preside, supported by representative ladies and gentlemen of the town and district.
