Railway communication between Wellington was restored ' yesterday, three express trains arriving in the afternoon and evening, and one departing last night. The obstruction at Taringamutu. which is two and ahftlf miles north of Tnuranrunui, was negotiated by the construction of n temporary track skirting the scene of the accident which occurred on Friday, and the line was reported clear at nine o'clock yesterday morning. Similarly, railway gangers succeeded in clearing the slips at Puketutu. Porritarao, Wajmiha. Piriaka, and Owhango .and the wash-out at Pokako. A new development in the situation, however, was provided by floods in the Waikato, the rapid rising of the river causing a wash-out at a place one and a-half miles north of Hnntly. The first two expresses to reach Auckland yesterday experienced no trouble, Init the third was delayed for an hour while reparrs to the track were effected. Later, the river was stated to be rising steadily, and ".he jwater was reported at 8 o'clock la>t. Slight to be within a short distance (.1 the level of the railway.
