ALLIES 000 D PROGRESS. POWERFUL DEFENSIVE WORKS TAKEN. United Press Association. (Received 9.55 am) Paris, July 25. A communique states:—ln the \ osges at Bandesapt we captured very powerful defensive works extending between Fontenelle heights and the village of Laiuioh. Wo also occupied a group of houses forming the southern part of the village. We capturned seven hundred unwounded prisoners belonging to four different battalions and a machine gun company.

BELGIAN ARRESTS. (Received 9.30 a.m.) Amsterdam, July 25. Three hundred persons were arrested at a recent Belgian National Day as a result of collisions with German military. FICHTINC ROUND SOUCHEZ. The High Commissioner reports J London, July 25 (G. 55 a.m.) Paris reports an artillery action around Souchez.
