HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. “The Eagles Mate.” featuring that fascinating lilm artist, Mary Piektord. was the chief attraction v\ ith the new programme presented at His Majesty's Theatre last night to a crowded audience. Miss Mary Picklord’s acting in this picture is really masterful. The story is woven round the Monies of Virginia, a lawless mountain clan, “scornful of any law save that written large in their hearts.” The elan has its abode on a nearly inaccessible peak called the Eagle’s Eyrie, and because of their craggy abode and their fierce nature are called eagles. The leader of the elan is arrested for moonshining, and his son who has adopted himself to the civilised life, forsakes this to rescue his father. Anemone (Mary Piekford) is abducted by one of theVlan and borne to the mountains, where Lance meets tin* pretty Anemone, they are married in the wild fastness of the mountains, and Anemone is at last truly happy as the Eagle’s wile. Apart Irom the attractions of the picture, the wild scenery of the mountain is hoautilully reproduced, Several new war pictures are shown in the Gazette, and a screamingly funny comedy him featuring the late John Bunny is included in the programme. The same pictures will la* .shown to-night and to-im-p ow. and also on Saturday afl -.ioo at the matinee.
