The Stratford Juveniles are pror diicing ‘‘Cinderella" at Inglewood on the 29th instant. A Wellington telegram stales' that Harold Hailing Howell, charged with obtaining goods at New Plymouth hv means of valueless cheques, was remanded to appear there on Friday. He was committed for trial on similar charges in the Wellington district.

The Legislative Council had another short sitting yesterday. Sir F. H. I). Hell gave notice to move that the Council should appoint Wednesday,

duly 28. as the date for the election of Chairman of Committees, and the Council adjourned to that date.

News has been received by the Minister of Defence that the Fifth Reinforcements, which left Wellington on June 12, have landed their horses in India and have left again for their destination. The manager of the Stratford Electrical Supply Company informed a “Stratford Post” representative this afternoon that though he is afraid the Diesel generating plant will hardly he ready for use to-night, tho hydro-plant should provide a better light than last night, as the intake gratings have been cleared, though with considerable difficulty. The Company’s staff is sparing no effort in order to restore a full service to consumers at the earliest possible moment.

The presence of an organisation of Syndicalists in Auckland was mentioned by Mr Craig, president of the Auckland Employers’ Association, at the annual meeting (reports the Press Association). He said that a “direct” group had established headquarters in this city, and were openly advocating scientific sabotage as being the most powerful weapon of a militant minority. He made a statement that members of the Association should bo aware of tho presence of such dangerous individuals
