PLUCK and PERSEVERANCE

TRIBUTE TO NEW ZEALANDERS J'kh Pkf.ss ASSOOUT.'W. • Hastings, July 20. Captain Ernest Boxer, of the New Zealand Field Ambulance with the Expeditionary Force, alter paying a high tribute to the pluck and perseverance of the New Zealaiiders, adds a word as to the spirit in which the wounded men met their troubles. I have seen ghastly things—terrible wounds and disfigurements; 1 have seen wounded men forty-eight and even seventy-two hours on the outposts unable to be succoured: 1 have seen men dying ill agony and have closed their sad wan eyes, but out of all the honor of it arises the great glory in the very suffering that New Zealand produced and will yet produce such noble heroes, who suffer and die without murmur. Brave little land of ours! She has indeed done what she could, and' sealed her bond of Empire with her rich red blood. Honour the heroes of our regiments when they return! Forgive their faults (the ondy relative after all), and let the laird *ee and feel tke personal debt it owes tJiem."
