| On Friday, 2nd July, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr Gilbert Reed, at Waitui, when, we had a very [large attendanace of the public and wt> were able to quit all lines at full market values. Prices obtained were as follows :—Mare (10 years old) £l7 10s, cob £6 os, h»y mare (10 years) £2O, gelding (.11 years) £2O, gelding £lO 10s, goats 3s each, weaner heifers 21s 6d, springing heifers £fi 10s, live small springing heifers £3 15s. Cows (early cal vers and close to profit) 'made from £lO to £ls ss, others (later calvers) made from £8 15s to £lO, and cows carrying 2nd calves (without records) made from £5 15s to £8 10s, store cows £5 to £5 15s. Cows at this sale averaged £8 14s. | At this sale we also offered on account of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund one bull calf donated by Mr A. J. Bakewell, of Waitui, the purchasers of which were as follows:—Purchased by Mr Frank Gladding for ss, by W. J. Byrne for ss, by Mr Frank Gladding for Os.

j On Monday, July sth, we hold a clearing sale on account of Mr C’nns. Hazel ton on the Radnor Road, Midhirst, when we had a large attendance of tho public, and prices obtained were very satisfactory:—Gelding “Jim” £24, one 2 year old filly by “Baron Killroy” £l6. Cows (early calvers, close to profit) made from £lO 10s to £ls 10s, later calvers made from £8 10s to £lO, cows (2nd calvers, without records) made from £G to £8 10s, Shorthorn steer months) made £3 11s, and one red empty cow (fat) made £7 2s 6d. At this sale the cows averaged £lO 10s. Pedigree bull “Lord Rutland,” was sold to Air J. W. ■Davidson, Pembroke Hoad, Stratford, j for Ifigns., and pedigree bull “J.X.L.” (yearling) was sold to Mr G. E. Ireland, East Road, Stratford, for 10* gns. At this sale we also offered a gig horse on account of Mr E. Anderson. the horse selling for £ls 15s. On Thursday, Bth inst., w T e held a clearing sale in conjunction with Mr Newton King, on account of Mr John Burkett. Sole Road, Ngaere. There was a large attendance and bidding was very risk. The herd consisted*)*! about 130 cows, and made an average of £8 12s, which should be considered very satisfactory for a largo herd of machine milked cows. The auctioneers started at a few minutes after 11 o’clock, and were going strong until dark, when there were a few of the cows and a number of cattle left unsold, and these were disposed of at our yards on the following Tuesday. Pigs also met with a very ready market as follows: Store pigs 1 (is fid to £1 Is, sows £4 7s fid to £7 ss, boar £1 15s. 'We also Offered at this sale one lanib oh account of Miss Droski, on account of the wounded soldiers’ fund, which was sold and resold as follows:—M. T. Phillips at £1 2s fid, re-offered on his •account and purchased by Geo. Coleman at £1 ; also purchased by 4. Mischewski at £l, Geo. Coplestone at £l, J. A. Oliver at 10s, M. T. Phillips at Ills, C. M. Hawken at 10s, Messrs OiT Bros, at 10s, Joe Fabish at ss. C. A. Simons at ss, Ernest Bennett at ss, Kneehone at ss, W. A. Hewitt (Loan Co.) at ss, E. Magner at ss, Newton King at ss, H. W. James at [ss, Jack Moor at ss, Wickham Bros, at ss, Wm. Mcßeth at ss, Miss Droski at 5s fid, Wickham Bros, at £1 10s.

I On Tuesday, 13th July, we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when there was a fair yarding of fat stock and a very good yarding of dairy stock, the prices being slightly in advance of those realised at the previous sale. We yarded 270 head n 1 cattle and 226 sheep, most of which were disposed of at satisfactory prices : —Fat cows (good weights) £6 to £9, store cows 84s to 118 s, old store cows 47s to 795, weaner steers 2us to 1 345, weaner heifers 7s to 345, 20 (months heifers 47s to 745, empty cows 37s 6d and 48s, bulls 60s to 120 s. In our dairy yards we offered the balance of Mr John Burkett’s herd and 18 heifers and bulls, all of which met with a ready sale:—Heifers £0 17s 6d to £6 10s, bulls from £4 to £6. We also offered in the dairy yards 40 heifers advertised on account of M.L. W. Catchpole, Tarnta, most of which shower! quality and were soid at the following prices: £8 ]/5 s for good colored to £(i 12s for medium quality, and £o for and backward.

At this sale we also offered on ao nount of the Belgian Relief Fund, one

ewe donated by Mr Frank Gladding, purchasers of same being as follows:

Our next Stratford sale will be held on July 27th, 1915. On Wednesday, 14th iust., we held a clearing sale on account of Mr A. *M. Scott. Sole Road, Ngaere. The day was fine and there was a very large attendance of buyers from all over the district, and everything offered sold well. The stock was in good condition and showed careful selection. Sow and litter £‘B ss, store pigs up to 30s, weaner heifers 225, empty cows £4, hull £4 15s, late calving cows £5 to £6, aged cows £7 to £B, young ast cows flair quality and close to profit realised from £8 10s, giving the veiy high average of £l2 12s Gd. We also offerer! at this sale on account of Mr John Burkett two dogs and two horses, the dogs selling at 13s and £3 3s, and the horses £8 15s* and £9.

On Thursday, 15th July, we held a, clearing sale on account of Mr Win. Karp, York Road, Midhirst, who ha« sold his farm, There was a large attendance of the public, competition was keen, and all lines offered were cleared at ve full values. The cows were a creditable lot, although a good many were late culvers find a good many showed age, hut notwithstanding this an average of £ll 7s Gd was made. Hack, aged mare £7 2s Gd, milk cart gelding (aged) £6 55,, useful farmers’ gelding £25, pedigree Jersey bull “Ivondale’s Heather Boy” 16 ngs., cows (early oalvers and close to profit) made £9 15s to £ls, later culvers £8 lOsto £9 10s, Wo also offered a nice line of heifers, which met with v,ery keen competition and sold for nice stuff at £8 15s to £9 ss, smaller £5 to £B, yearling steers 41s, and 20 months steers S2.s, weaner heifer# 22s 11s.

At this salo wo also offered on account of Mr Anthony Potroz three nice heifers, 3 year old heifers selling at £8 to ,£8 2s Gd/and 2 year old heifers at £4 12s Gd. At this sale we also sold for the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, per the Scottish Society, one yearling steer donated by Mr Wm. Earp, which was sold and resold as follows: —Purchased by S. Pitt at £2, re-offered on his account and purchased by I). Brown at £2, J. Stewart £l, W. A. Hewitt (Loan Co.) £l, C. Jackson at £l, J. B. Clemow at £l, Wm, Earp at £l, W. Jones at £l, 8. Pitt finally at £2 -Is. At this sale we also offered on behalf of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund me old mare donated by Mr J. Moore, which was purchased by Mr J. Thacker .or os, re-offered on bis account and purchased by Mr W. hangman for 7s Gd.

At this sale we also offered on behalf >1 the Belgian Refugees Fund, one saddle, donated by Mr Wm. Earp, which was sold and re-sold as follows: W. A. Hewitt (Loan Company) 2s Gd, re-offered on bis account and purchased by H. McLaughlin at 2s Gd, Peter*on at 2s Gd, J, Donald at 2s Gd, J. Kettlewcll at 2s Gd, J. Taylor at 2s- Gd. At this sale the following (the York Road Syndicate) were purchasers in connection with the- Campbell Jackson’s section gift tickets being organised by the Stratford Scottish Society for the Wounded Soldiers-’ Fund:—A. 1).
