The death of Marshall Hall. Professor of Music, is announced from Melbourne.

Lieutenant C. A. Merchant, who has been on a visit to his parents, leturned to camp this morning by the mail train. Sir Joseph Ward has received information that his sons, the Messrs Vincent and Gladstone Ward, have arrived in England. Doth have obtained commissions in the Army and have gone into training.

Word was received in Stratford yesterday that Mr Dudley Cameron is in a very serious condition at the Cambridge Sanatorium. Mr Cameron returned from Egypt some time ago as an invaled and was discharged as such from the forces.

A Palmerston North telegram states that Mr P. A. MeHardy, who has recently given over £2OOO to various war funds, has donated tn tho patriotic society a valuable business l ite worth £3OOO, to be disposed of for patriotic purposes.

Private I). 15. Doggctt, late of the Stratford Post Office, and a member of the reinforcements, died at the Trontham Military Hospital on Saturday last. Ho was suffering from influenza and complications. His remains will be interred at Kangiora on Tuesday. Private George Kerr, who was wounded at the Dardanelles, is now in hospital at Birmingham. The hone of the elbow was blown away. It is anticipated that Private Kerr will not he fit for service again, but his injury will not prevent him taking up a civil position on his return to New Zealand. Private Herbert James Williams, who came from Picton. and Private David Bruce Doggett. belonging to Bangiora. each 21 years of ago. died at Trentham on Saturday. Walter Ford, whose relatives live in England, died at Trentham yesterday. The causes of death are not stated by tin; Press Association.
