A meeting of the Taranaki Rugby Union was held at Stratford on Lhursday night, when there were present: Messrs Jas. McLeod (chairman), A. Hanson, W. R. Fearon, L. Naldcr, !■ Skoglund (secretary), and R• Masters (treasurer).
It was decided that the play-off between Kaponga and Hawora Seniors should ho plaved at Manaia on Saturday, July 21.
As only two rounds arc being played in the Southern Division Senior Competition, only three rounds will be played in the Northern Division instead of four, as originally intended. The question ol revising the conditions attaching to the Bayly Scholarship was further discussed, and was then held over until next Saturday, when it will be finally settled.
Kaponga Second Juniors appealed against a match being awarded Okaiawa Second Juniors, on the ground that the latter had included a first junior in their team. I lie matter uas referred to Okaiawa lor an explanation.
\V. Hoch, referee, reported . Drinkwater. lime umpire in a match, for objectionable conduct towards himself. It was resolved to ask Mr Drinkwater for an explanation.
Clifton Juniors protested against Stratford Juniors hoinig awarded the m a tel) on the ground that Stratford had played some senior men. The protest was sustained, and the match awarded to Clifton. Stratford admitted that they played senior men. hut stated that their object was to give the men a game.
It was decided to ask Auckland to pay a visit to Taranaki this year. In the event ot Auckland making the trip to Taranaki, the local team will return Wellington’s visit.
liv defeating Hawera last Saturday by 0 points to nil, Kaponga drew level with the amber and blacks for the division premiership, and. as the Southern Division clubs are only playing two rounds, a play-off is rendered necessary, and will eventuate next Saturdav at .Manaia.
The play-off for the Provincial Championship will be decided by one match, as was the case in previous years. The union favors three playoffs, but considers that the present is not an opportune year to introduce that innovation.
