AN AMERICAN ADVERTISEMENT. United Press association. (Received 2.5 p.m.) London, July 16. The Press Bureau states tnat the Government call attention to an advertisement of an Amnriean machinist on May 6th relating to a new shell, j„ which two explosive acids are used to explode the shell. The combination causes a terrific explosion and liagrneuts coated with acid cause death alter terrible agony of four hours unless the wounds arc immediately cauteiised or the limbs amputated, as there is no antidote to counteract the poison. The Government state that the advertisement is not genuine, and was designed tq create a ialsq impression. No order was given for •such an explosive in America or elsewhere, nor do the Government contemplate using such an invention.
