BOTHA'S SUCCESS.
United Press Association*. London, July 13.
The House of Commons adopted ft motion thanking General Botha and the South Africans. Mr Asquith said the theatre oi' operations was to ft vast extent singularly unsuited lor military movements. It was n desert of shifting sand; water-holes were rare and often poisoned; the roads were thickly strewn with mines, and the railways were torn up; yet with comparatively small cost of life General Botha secured a striking success. Combined with their mobility the endurance of the troops made an effective resistance by the enemy at any point impossible. The Boers and Britishers fought like brothers side by side'.
Messrs Boiiar Law. H. Chaplin, and T. P. O'Connor paid glowing tributes to Botha, Smuts, and the troops.
