Mr Mussell Fleetwood, of New Plymouth, has been appointed Town Clerk at Waitara. Patrick Coe. who was injured by a fall of a brick wall at the Municipal Chambers building operations, is progressing slowly.
In the Legislative Council Chamber on Thursday a luncheon was tendered by the Hon. Sir Francis Bell deader of the Council), to the Hon. Sir H. .). Miller (Otago). who that day completed his half century as a Legislative Councillor. The guests were limited practically to members of the Legislative Council, who heartily eong.'atulated Mr Miller on his long term 0 office.
The Yen. Archdeacon Harper's Rejected departure from Wellington was referred to at Thursday's sitting of the Anglican Synod. The following resolution was carried unanimously: "That this Synod hears with regret of the projected departure from the diocese of the Ven. Archdeacon Harper, and wishes to place on record its appreciation of his ■ valuable services rendered to the diocese and to the Chinch of the Province of New Zealand."
At the Domain Board's.meeting yesterday the following motion was passed : "That this Board place on record its appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the Board as secretary for twelve years, of Mr G. I). Hunter, and whilst regretting to lose lu's services, appreciates the motives which have impelled him to relinquish his post in order to proceed to the front with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces. Members of the. Hoard heartily wish Mr Hunter good luck and sale return."
On Thursday, at Manaia, Dr. Norman was presented by the Hibernians, Oddfellows and Druids with an il'untinsiled address on the eveol his departure for Hamilton. The address expressed appreciation of his services to the lodges during the past ten years, and regret at his departure, as he hid taken a sincere l interest in all philanthropic, charitable, and other useful pu'ilic and social affairs. A wish was expressed that a ! t<ppy fi'ture was in store for Dr. and Mrs Xoonan and family. On Wednesday Mrs Xoonan was presented hy the ladies of Manaia with a handsome tea set and pearl pendant. Dr. Xoonan and family left for the north hy tho Haiaua last night.
