We are threatening Lublin, Ivaugorbr and Warsaw, and have frustratjed the Russian efforts to break 'through the Austrian front between the Pruth and the Dneister. The Russians are using naval gnus from Kronstadt and other fortresses, and several of these guns were captured. We are progressing west of the upper Vistula. During our pursuit towards Zliolipa on Saturday, and .Monday we took prisoners 3850 Russians. Wo- inflicted fearful losses on the Anglo-French forces at Arras and La Bassee.- There were eight hundred survivors in a regiment of 4200. North of Ypres the British penetrated a portion of our trenches on Tuesday, but were thrown out in the evening. During our bombardment of the concentrations of the enemy at Arras the town was set on fire and the cathedral was burned. The French attempted to recapture positions southwest of Les Eparges and were ejected, except on a portion on a hundred metres. We captured a position between Ailly and Apremont, taking three hundred prisoners. Four airmen successfully bombed a camp southwest of Surppess.
It is reported from Athens that the Anglo-French Admiralties were disturbed at the news that seven big German submarines had appeared in the Aegean Sea, compelling the withdrawal of their big ships, involving a catastrophe to the army.
