, <*. < • - 1 ... FORMAL EVIDENCE AT INQUEST
An' inquest presided over by Mr C. I).'Sole, J.P., Coroner, was opened at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Mr P. Thomson (instructed by W. G. Malone) appeared *on behalf of the deceased’s relatives The jury consisted of Messrs S. Ward (foreman), A'. Bliek, T. Wilson, ’ W. H. Kelly, H. Sanderson, and H. Kivell. ' /Oscar Nathaniel Johnson, confectioner, of Wellington, stated that the body in the Morgue at the Stratford Hospital was the- body of his son William; Tudor* Johnson, aged 22. His *son was a porter in the railway at the time of his death (and had served fo* ; twelve months. Deceased’s eyesight was • gootj,,, his hearing perfect, and he had always enjoyed excellent health. Deceased never complained about his work in the railway. Wit-: ness knew nothing about the accident. •! ' ’ j IV Mr Thofrfson: Deceased was of temperate habits and was a splendid | athlete,* He had never met with an accident before. The inquest then, adjourned until 10 o’clock on Wednesday, July 14.
