A fire, which had a strong hold, was discovered shortly after tlneiv o’clock this morning in the office of; the timber yards here, owned byJames Cunningham, who was subsequently found dead in the office. ceased was a married man, with a young family i Hie came from Wood* ville a couple of years ago. •

A fire- early this' morning destroyed a five roomed house ia Grafton Hoad, Hoselieath, owned by Thomas Gordon, of Pokeuo, Auckland/ and occupied by Abraham . I ones. The four inmates escaped. Practically nothing was saved of the, furniture.
